David and Annette are located in the Salt Lake City, Utah area and have been rock and gem lovers all their lives.
Utah has an abundance of minerals from which we’ve gathered specimens of agate, topaz and even red beryl.
We’ve recovered colorful sapphires from Montana’s Gem Mountain and Spokane Bar areas, sifted for sunstones at the Spectrum and Double Eagle mines in the high deserts of Oregon and have even used jackhammers to coax opals out of the tight-grained lava flows of the Juniper Ridge Opal Mine located in Oregon’s beautiful Fremont National Forest.
We are apprenticing with Gemstone Artist John Bailey, having participated in his resident faceting academy. David is a Registered Gemologist Appraiser certified through the International School of Gemology and Annette is currently working through her Graduate Gemologist program offered by the GIA.
Along with finding and cutting gemstones, we enjoy creating elegant sculpted wire jewelry using silver and other metals, treasure hunting on the beach, hiking in the beautiful mountains of Utah, and basically anything else that takes us into nature’s great outdoors.
